Dustin and I went to see the specialist on 12/11 to get an extra sonogram and to check for certain birth defects such as spin bifida, down syndrome, etc. While we were there, we sat in on the counseling portion first where he discussed the odds of the baby having issues and even the odds of a loss. He reassured us once more that our odds have not increased just because we had a still born baby. The fact that we had a full term (two weeks over due, even) 9 lb healthy baby actually increases our chances of having a successful pregnancy.
After, the counseling, we went in for the sonogram where we saw our little baby moving and playing and growing :) The heartbeat was steady, the doctor said there was no evidence of any birth defects and everything looked good! Perhaps the best news we received is that the blood spots that were previously a worry are no longer a worry! So far, this is a "perfect" pregnancy!!!
I measured 13 weeks and 4 days at this appointment so they have officially changed my due date to June 14, 2014. Again, they will most likely take the baby via C-section between 38-39 weeks so we are really looking at having the baby at the end of May/beginning of June. The bad news is our baby's might have the same birthday. The good news is we will only have to make one annual trip to Disney to celebrate birthdays :)
Here are the most recent sonogram pictures of our bouncing baby! Only one more week until the gender reveal!!!! We can't wait. Oh, and for the record, we are both pretty convinced it is a boy :)
Peachy keen up-date!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad we`ll know the gender by Christmas. Praying all will be well
