Baby's 1st Doctor's Visit

Dustin and I attended my first OB appointment on Monday, October 10. When I first called to schedule the appointment a month ago, they wanted to rush me in but I insisted that they schedule it a time that Dustin could attend as well. This meant waiting a few extra weeks. By the time it came around, we were both VERY anxious to hear this little thing's heart beat. We were seen soon after arriving and went straight in for the sonogram. It took no time for her to find the baby and for us to hear the heartbeat. There are no words to express the relief that I felt when I finally heard the heartbeat. I have been really, really sick so I was pretty confident that everything was still progressing but after losing Penelope and our last pregnancy, paranoia is something I simply can't avoid.

The heartbeat was 174. Also, the baby measured 8 weeks 1 day, a week less than the
due date calculator that I used had predicted. While it is a total bummer to lose a week, we couldn't complain after seeing that everything was going well.

The new due date is projected to be June 21, 2014. Due to the damage that Xavier's delivery caused to my body, however, the doctor will probably take the baby a week early via C-section. This is something Dustin and I never dreamed to agreeing to, but after everything we have been through, having a baby via C-section vs. natural birth simply doesn't seem to matter.

One teeny concern that the doctor had after seeing the images of the sonogram was that I have 2 little "bleeders" in my uterus. They are very small and he thinks that they are probably from implantation but we are keeping an eye on them just in case.

Once we were told things looked good,we decided to tell Beanie. The following was/is his reaction every single time:)

Overall, it was a wonderful appointment and we were thrilled with the news we received. Seeing our little baby brought us unspeakable joy and we will continue to be prayerful and hopeful that everything will turn out beautifully.

8 Weeks 1 Day

Baby is the size of a raspberry :)
