Water Baby :)

My friend Kelly wanted to send Xavier a congratulatory gift for becoming a big brother...so she sent an adorable pool for him to play with :) He has a bigger pool, but we have to get in with him in order for him to swim in it. This is perfect for when we don't feel like gettin' wet! We are so thankful for such wonderful and supportive friends and family <3

Pregnancy #2 So Far...

Well, as we previously mentioned, Dustin and I are expecting bundle of joy #2 :) We are thrilled!

We had talked for many years about how we only wanted two babies and we wanted them close together. Ideally, they would be 2 to 2 1/2 years apart like Dustin and Clayton and my sisters and I. When Xavier turned 1, I started doing the math and realized we were running out of time! So, this summer we decided to put it in God's hands :) We thought it would take months or maybe not happen at all because I have been told that I can't get pregnant. That doctor was wrong...clearly...because we got pregnant immediately :)

It was a random Tuesday night after we got home from our trip to Indiana that I decided to take the test. It was positive so we ran to the store and bought a few more to be sure. After they were all positive, I made an appointment with my doctor for the following day to get an official test and the following day my doctor called me with the "congratulatory" call to let me know we were, indeed, expecting :)

So, I haven't had an ultrasound yet but based on the exam that my OB performed and the dates, my doctor expects that I am currently 9 weeks pregnant and I am due April 2. This due date might change after the first sonogram in September (it did for Bean, too.)

9 weeks!
I went to my first OB appointment two weeks ago. I am going to the same practice that I went to with Xavier so they know our history. Dustin met the Baby and I there after he got out of clinic. When the nurse called us back, she doted on beanie and told us how excited she was for us! We were put into a small room and after realizing that they weren't going to do anything special (i.e. heartbeat, sonogram, etc.) I told Dust that he could just take the baby on home because he wouldn't miss anything important. I was wrong :(

As soon as they left, the doctor came in with a very concerned look. Although I may have mentioned it briefly in the beginning of this blog, I didn't go into detail as to how traumatic and dangerous delivering Xavier  truly became. Apparently, the doctor's of the practice had discussed my case at lunch previously that day and they had some very strong opinions as to how this delivery should go. When I told her I wanted to deliver baby number 2 naturally, she pretty much shot me down. Due to the damage Xavier did to my body, as well as the baby's safety, they are STRONGLY recommending that I have a C-section this time around. After a lengthy discussion, I said that I would consider it but we are "tabling" the whole conversation for now. I am hopeful that I am still able to deliver this baby naturally...maybe it won't be quite as big...or go 2 weeks overdue...Whatever the case may be, Dustin and I will make the smartest and safest decision for myself and the bambino :)

I am currently having an aversion to pretty much every food in the book. I am vomiting pretty regularly and feel tired, lethargic and light headed around the clock. School started back up this past week for me so that doesn't help matters. With all that being said, I am still feeling 100 times better than I did with Xavier! Hopefully the morning (afternoon and evening) sickness goes away soon!

But we know it will all be worth it :)

ER Visit # 2...

Last Sunday evening, Xavier developed a little bit of a fever and a cough. It was nothing major and we didn't think twice about it after giving him some Motrin. He went to bed at his usual time and Dustin and I went about our evening.

At midnight, we woke up to Xavier crying. I went into his nursery and got him out of his crib. I changed his diaper and did all of the usual "middle of the night" procedures. I realized once I sat down in the rocker with him that his fever had skyrocketed. I immediately called out to Dust, who came in and took his temperature, It was 102.4 :( As soon as we took his temperature, he began to cough and we knew that something was wrong. His cough sounded like a gasp. It sounded like there was something wrong with his lungs...it's hard to explain but my mommy intuition told me that we needed to take him to the hospital. Dustin gave him some medicine for the fever while I packed up the diaper bag. We jumped in the car in the middle of the night to take Bean to the E.R.

Once we got there, we were taken back to a room immediately. The nurse listened to our concerns and took his temperature. It was now at 103.7!!! I obviously began freaking out. Even though we had given him Motrin only 30 minutes before, the doctor decided to give him a dose of Tylenol to help break his fever quickly. They inserted the Tylenol rectally and it seemed to do it's job. Within 10 minutes, his fever broke.

Pretending the bed remote was a phone!

You wouldn't know he was sick :)

My Life!

<3

3:00 AM!

Once the doctor came in, she examined him and decided to do an x-ray. The x-ray came back clear and she diagnosed him with croup. They gave him some steroids to help the inflammation in his throat and sent us on our way.

He is still struggling with sleeping. He has not slept well for a week now but he is getting better and his fever has completely dissipated.

Please keep our little Beanie Baby in your prayers!! :)

Mother's Song

This is one of the most beautiful and truthful poems that I have ever heard. It brought tears to my eyes. Being a mommy has brought me more joy than I ever knew possible.

My heart is like a fountain true
that flows and flows with love to you
as chirps the lark unto the tree
so chirps my pretty babe to me
There is not a rose wherever I seek
as comely as my baby's cheek
there's not a comb of honey bee
so full of sweets as babe to me
There's not a star that shines on high
is brighter than my baby's eye
There's not a boat upon the sea
can dance as baby does to me
No silk was ever spun so fine
as is the hair of baby mine
My baby smells more sweet to me
than smells in spring the elder tree
A little fish swims in the well
So in my heart does baby dwell
A little flower blows on the tree
My baby is the flower to me
Ten thousand parks where deer do run
Ten thousand roses in the sun
Ten thousand pearls beneath the sea
my babe more precious is to me.

Return of the Sock Monkey!!!

One of the Christmas presents that Ruth and Warren got Xavier for Christmas last year was a talking, rolling sock monkey.

Let's just say he wasn't a fan at first. In fact, this is one of the funniest posts we've written.

Recently, Xavier started shaking our side table in the living room and our heavy lamp almost fell on him a couple of times. No matter what we did, he would NOT stay away!

Finally, my brilliant husband had a great idea...he put the sock monkey on the table! It worked like magic for roughly 2 months. Xavier didn't go near the table all summer. Until this week.

Xavier decided that he isn't afraid of the sock monkey anymore. In fact, he is obsessed!

Love :)

He takes it everywhere!

Kisses!

Precious <3
Ruth wanted me to return it, but I knew he'd come around! He loves it! Here's a cute video of them playing together :)

Beanie's New Play Room!

When Dustin and I first moved into this house, it was very adult and dare I say...sophisticated! We started decorating, room by room. One of the first rooms was our Florida room. A Florida room is a room in the back of the house that has windows on all three sides. It was one of our favorite features of this house because it opens up to a cute little patio that we had high hopes for...

Before Bean
until we found out that we were expecting. Then decorating the house was immediately put on the back burner (except for the nursery, of course!) After finding out that bean was on the way, we made the Florida room the office and turned the office into the nursery. Bye-bye adorable Florida room.

Recently, Xavier's toy collection was just too much for Dustin to handle so he surrendered and moved the computer into our bedroom.

So now, we have a play room! Xavier spends a lot of his time back there. He is definitely more interested now that it's "his" room. Before, we had to sit in there with him and keep him out of chords and office supplies. Now he is free to roam! He loves it!

Xavier's New Ride ;)

One of the presents Xavier got for his birthday was a Little Tyke Coupe and oh my goodness was it a good one! He loves it! He lives in it! He wakes up every morning and runs to it!

It was one of the best purchases we've made thus far.

Hey Mom!

I LOVE IT!

Peek a boo!

Steering...

This is his excited face!

He loves the door... haha

Chillin'

In and Out, In and Out!

Hey!

He backs it up into his tent...
This is by far his favorite toy right now and he acts like such a big guy. It's hilarious to see. He brings us so much joy!!!!!

Home Again, Home Again...

Before we knew it, it was time to head back home. Thursday morning, we woke up and started packing and organizing. We were sad to leave but SO ready to get home to Dust!! We said our goodbyes and then my dad took us to Indy.

At the airport!

As usual, Beanie slept almost the whole flight. He is such a good flyer!

When we arrived in Tampa, Dustin was waiting on us in baggage claim. It was a wonderful little reunion :)

Home!
