Friday when I picked Bean up from Miss Susie and Miss Isabel's, they had just started feeding him. I offered to sit down and finish the bottle so that they could tend to the other children. While I was feeding him, we sat in Isabel's kitchen and chatted. We talked about all of the things Beanie had done that day and just got to know each other better. Somewhere along the line, I asked how to say a certain phrase in Spanish (did I mention that Spanish is their native language?) Anyway, I have learned tons of Spanish while living here- partly through Rosetta Stone and partly through my students (90% of them are bilingual). I am totally interested in the language and ask for mini-lessons from them often. After learning a phrase or two, it was time to pack Beanie up and head home.
As we left, I heard Suzie call to Xavier. She kissed and tickled him and said "Adios poco Gordito." This translates as Goodbye little chubby boy :) Apparently, his nickname at daycare is not Beanie, but gordito.

Dustin thought this nickname was hilarious. Obviously Xavier is huge for his age and we are so thankful for that. He is a strong, healthy baby...our Little Gordito :)

We love you gordito :) |
