Coming Home :)

Coming home was so exciting...and scary! Luckily, my parents were able to stay with us for the first few days. The whole drive home we obsessed over him. Was he too hot? Was there too much air in his face? Why was his little head bobbling?! By the time we were home, I vowed that we would never drive with him again. Of course, he was fine and now one of his favorite things to do is sit in his car seat and drive around!

I LOVE MY CARSEAT!

When we got home, we were welcomed with a freshly decorated mailbox. My parents had tied "It's a boy!" balloons to it neatly and we kept these balloons for his baby book. It was adorable. We also found a little present placed on our patio furniture. Our neighbors (whom we had never met)  left a small bag with adorable onesies and booties! It was so nice of them :)

When we walked inside, our house smelled AMAZING! My mom had cooked a roast with all of the sides and we celebrated Bean's homecoming with a delicious home-cooked meal. After 3 days of hospital and fast food, nothing had ever tasted better! We spent the rest of the evening  playing "pass the bean."  We each took turns holding him, rocking him, changing him. He was in someone's arms at all times.

2 days old...I love my Mimi!
To prepare Midnight for our new bundle of joy, Dustin brought home one of Bean's blankets while we were still in the hospital. He let her sniff it for a while to familiarize her with Bean's smell.  When we came home Midnight was so curious. She even turned down scraps because she was too busy investigating the new little one! She spent the evening following whoever it was that was holding him and trying to get as close to him as possible. It was precious.

Staring at the bassinet... waiting for him to make a move.

The next two days were very similar. My mom cooked and cleaned for us, my dad and Dust watched about 4 billion episodes of "Pawn Stars" and I tried to rest and get used to having a baby at home. We enjoyed each others company and  doted on Beanie always. My parents left that Tuesday morning and I had a meltdown. The thought of Dustin and I doing this alone 1,000 miles away from everyone we love was heart wrenching.
A congratulatory grill from my parents :)

Things quickly settled, however, and we got into a little routine. Dustin started slowly going back to school and Bean and I played at home together each day. :)
