Beanie's Nursery

This post is mostly just for me :) I know that once Bean is out of the bassinet, (which is sadly going to be soon) his room will rarely look this clean and organized as he will actually be in his room. Up to this point, we have only frequented the nursery for diaper changings and to play dress up :) Also, I just think it is important to keep pictures so that he can go back and see what his very first room looked like! I love it and we worked so hard to make it perfect!

Before Bean's room was a nursery, it was Dustin's office. We had only lived in our new house a month when we found out I was pregnant so his office was sparse. Luckily, we didn't spend a fortune on this room only to tear it all down a few months later!

When we ordered his furniture, I wanted it to be an espresso finish. When the furniture arrived, it was a cherry finish. I was so mad but when I looked up our order, I realized that I had clicked the wrong color...it was my fault :(  Luckily, it went perfectly with the other decor so we decided to save ourselves the trouble of paying to ship it back and waiting 6 weeks for the new furniture to come.

The furniture arrived in early February which meant I immediately began nagging Dustin to paint. I nagged and nagged until he did it in early March :) That is when it all started to come together. Slowly, piece by piece, the sparse office became an adorable room for Bean.

View from the doorway

The blue afghan hanging on the edge of the crib was a shower gift from my Grandma Austin. She has been knitting these blankets for years. In fact, she knitted a large green and yellow one for my parents before I was born and they still have it today. I love sentimental gifts :) Beanie will have this blanky forever as a reminder of his great-grandma!

Changing table and chair

The beautiful rocking chair and ottoman was a gift from Kimberly and Neil. It fits perfectly in the corner along with Bean's growth chart on the wall.

Mimi and Papa bought Bean the Donald Duck ears at Disney World the day before he was born. The big bottle on the chest full of cotton balls was a decoration at my shower at work. My favorite item on the chest is the big baby book on the right....

This was a gift from Kylee and Kimberly. It is a survival guide to the first few months of parenthood. It was so thoughtful, took SOOO much time and is very helpful. I have amazing sisters :)

Bookshelf and closet :)

This is one of my favorite parts of the room...the bookcase! Being an elementary teacher, I am obsessed with children's literature. As I was decorating and organizing Bean's already overflowing collection, I was overwhelmed with happiness picturing us curling up on the rocking chair with "Goodnight Moon." :)
