A couple weekends ago, Dustin's practice paid for a spot to tailgate on the FSU intramural fields. This is a BIG deal in Tallahassee and we decided to play along and support the Seminoles. As we were getting ready, I pulled out Bean's new FSU shirt and before I could say a word, he pointed to the Native American on it and said "Daddy it is a Seminole!" and then busted our the war chant. Apparently, his school does a lot of FSU supporting :)

Driving downtown was a nightmare there were so.many.people.
Once we FINALLY found parking (at least a 60 minute ordeal) we headed toward the field, about a mile walk, to meet up with Dr. Farrah and the others. Even though it was a mess this time around, we are confident that next time will be easy because we know what we are doing.

Walking downtown |
The ongoing joke between Dust and I since we moved to Tallahassee almost two years ago is that we know a total of 6 people. This is obviously an exxageration and we have actually gotten to the point where we check the mirror twice before leaving home because we actually do know lots of people now. We have our little niche of friends and rarely do we get out of the house without running into a patient, a student and their family, or a coworker. I think it is nice...Dustin thinks it's annoying :)
Still, just because we know some people now didn't mean we expected to see people at the game. There were tens of thousands of people swarming downtown. You can imagine my surprise when I ran into not 1, not 2, but 3 people I know by accident! One of which is a good friend.

My friend Gina :) |
After making it to the tailgate, we were able to take a deep breath and settle in. Dr. Farrah and his wife Staci had setup some yummy treats and Xavier and Nyla (their 3 year old daughter) attempted to play nicely.

Stadium |
We held out until 8 PM when we decided to call it a day. We had a good time being social and Xavier surprised us with walking the nearly mile walk back to the car after hours of play! This was a big outing for us and it will probably be a while before we attempt it again. We were glad we took the plunge though for this experience. X had a blast and it was good to feel like part of the community :)
