Thursday night, X helped me prepare the snacks we were bringing to the party. I signed us up for fruits and veggies so I decided to make it easy on myself. The veggie we chose was carrot "chips" and then we got individual serving cups for ranch dipping. We purchased mandarin orange cups and turned them into "Easter Chicks." They were so cute and Xavier was so excited to share them with his friends!
The morning of the party, Dustin took Bean to school like usual and I got stuffed Easter eggs for the egg hunt. I arrived at his school around 10:15 and helped set up. When I first arrived, he was so happy to see me that he was reluctant to participate in the other things going on. Safari man was there singing with them and Xavier just wanted me. Eventually, I got him to sing and dance with his friends and he "detached" himself from me :)
Shortly after safari man left, it was time for the egg hunt! O.M.G. This was amazing! Xavier knew exactly what was going on and he had a blast! There were so many eggs that the hunt lasted at least 10 minutes. All of the babies were in heaven :)
After collecting eggs, the class played with bubbles and decorated eggs with chalk. Some of them also realized that the eggs were filled with candy so the adults tried to keep them from eating too much.
The Easter bunny was up next and honestly, it was a scene out of a horror movie. The second some of the kids saw him coming they screamed bloody murder! There were only three or four kids that went anywhere near him. Luckily, Xavier wasn't thrilled but was more than willing to pose for me. He wasn't scared. He even hugged the bunny bye before he left.
The rest of the morning was spent eating and playing. It was awesome to watch him interact with his friends and play. He definitely has a couple best friends and that was adorable to see.
As time passed, I dreaded more and more saying goodbye. Xavier does not do well with me leaving him at school and it nearly always ruins my day, hence daddy drop off. Amazingly, when I told him I needed to go to work, he was totally fine with it and kissed and squeezed me bye like a big boy. He even posed for a picture with me :) It was wonderful to not feel guilty leaving him!
I know I've said it before but I am so thankful for a job that allows me to take the time off to be with my little guy for special occasions and I am so grateful for such a great school that allows X these opportunities. We had an amazing time and the last thing he said to me was "Mommy, when daddy gets home, I show him pictures?" He couldn't wait to tell his daddy all about his day!
