Sick Little Bean

In mid-October, Xavier came down with an AWFUL bug. I picked him up from dismissal one day and he was beat red and on fire! I immediately took him to the nurse and Miss Peggy took his temp. It was 103.8. We left school and he begged me to go to Publix to get some soup and popsicles so I did before taking him home for some medicine.

Sick baby :(

Even after meds, his temp only went down to 102.3 that evening.

Naturally I took the following day off to stay home with him. When he woke up he complained that his throat was hurting and he had bumps :( I called the pediatrician and they were able to see him within the hour.

He tested negative for flu and strep but his shakes and fever continued to get worse :(

He needed my overshirt at the doctor to help him stop shaking

Over the next 5 days were never able to get his temp under 100. Baths, meds, liquids...we did everything we could!

Finally, his fever seemed to break and we decided to make his treat bags for Halloween to lift his spirits!

We spent the weekend recuperating and letting him eat anything he wanted. He literally didn't eat for a week. I was a wreck.

On Monday, we sent him back to school, fever free. And he almost made it... I knew he wasn't 100% so I pulled him into my class to eat lunch and rest, which helped.

But by 2pm, his teacher sent him to me. He was done! He couldn't hardly stay awake and had no energy. My assistant principal covered my class and sent us on our way. I got him some froyo on the way, hoping to get some calories in him and he seemed into it...

But had no interest once we got home.

We spent the afternoon quietly playing and resting and didn't pick up Luke until later.

The next day, also known as day 8!!!!!!!! he made it through the whole day. It took several moer days for him to get back to normal but we were happy to get him back in school!

Asleep moments after leaving school on his first full day!
We are so glad our beanie is better! He never gets sick and I just hate it to see him that way!
