Impromptu Vacation in St. Pete

After 2 days of no power, we toyed with the idea of heading out of town to find some AC. My mom beat us to the punch when she called Thursday after dinner to check in. She had called our favorite resort in St. Pete and made us reservations through Sunday night. We went to bed Wednesday evening hopeful that power would return so we could finish cleanup and get our lives in order but also thankful that if not, we were heading out of town!

Thursday morning we woke up to no power. We immediately cleaned up the house the best we could, got rid of more food that had gone bad in the fridge, transferred everything to the freezer, arranged for someone to keep Midnight fed and watered and packed up and headed south.

Once we arrived, they checked us in 2 hours early! We headed straight to the beach!

And after hours of fun on the beach, we headed for the pool :)

By dinnertime, we were ready for some of our favorite beach pizza. And, you may remember our old friend, Puckerlips! We got to see him too. I am so upset I wasn't able to get a pick of teh boys with him this time.

And what is a vacay without dessert?!

The next morning, we woke up and headed into Tampa for some park and museum fun!

After the museum, it was back to the hotel for some food and more fun in the sun!

This place is literally my heaven.

That evening, Dust did some research and found a yummy burger spot that we had never tried before. We hit the jackpot! SO YUMMY!

Afterward, we headed back to the hotel for some R&R.

The next morning was Sunday and we decided to leave bright and early. We had caught wind that our power was back and we wanted to get home early enough to get some things done before returning to work the next day.

We promised the boys their favorite donuts for breakfast before leaving town...

And just like that, it was back to reality!

I am serious when I say this was probably our best mini vacay yet. We had the very best time together. It was amazing. The boys were well behaved and everything went smoothly. We love this place and can't wait for our next visit :)

When we got back to school Monday, Xavier asked me for a thank you card to send Mimi and Papa and he wrote and illustrated it himself! He is so thoughtful :) They loved receiving his card.
