3 1/2 Years Old-- Updates

How did this happen?!?! We are so stinkin' proud of our 3 1/2 year old. It is amazing to watch him grow and learn. It brings me more joy than anything else in life.

As a 3 1/2 year old, Xavier enjoys cartoons-- but only the "not scary" ones. He is very sensitive to TV right now and if it isn't bright primary colors, he has deemed it as horrifying. We aren't sure why this has happened but we are very careful about what he watches anyway so it has caused no problems.

He lives off of bacon. And "peanut butter samiches." But mostly bacon. He refused to eat almost anything else. Every once in a while, we can get him to eat something daring like a turkey sandwich or a greek yogurt but if he had it his way, it would be nothing but bacon :)

About 3 months ago, we stopped putting him in diapers at night. He has an accident every once and a while but for the most part, he doesn't pee the bed which is AWESOME for a 3-year old.

He loves to play/watch mom and dad play Mario on the Wii, he loves playing on the iPad, he loves playing outside, he knows the entire alphabet, the sounds each letter makes, and a word that starts with that letter. He can spell/write his name. He can write many of the letters (not sure how many).

He has recently really slimmed down. He is weighing closer to 42 lbs these days and the pants that were tight on him last year are fitting him really well now. He is still wearing all of last winter's clothes. He also has recently become much more athletic and agile. He is fast! He is becoming a little boy right in front of our eyes.

His current favorite "sayings" are:
TOLD YOU!
You Crazy Beast!
I just want a little bit...
I  can do it!
Yes Ma'am!
You Silly Coconut!

And when he is tired:
My legs are hurt.
I can't walk.
I want to hold you.

He still requires me to lie in bed with him until he falls asleep which is tough but we get through it. Also, I find that while some nights it is really frustrating, many nights that 10 (ok, 30) minutes is the best 30 minutes of my day :) We will read a book together and then pray together and then listen to lullabies until he falls asleep. Every time I get impatient I try to remind myself that THIS is what being a mommy is really about.

He is so in love with Lukey. They are best friends and he has just been the absolute best brother there ever was. It is so awesome to watch their relationship bloom. Every now and then, X will notice that Lukey is doing something new and he will say "Look, mama! He is getting bigger!" It is so fun :)

He is amazing. We just love him so much.
