I have to start by saying that Luke is an angel baby! Daddy fixed his colic and it has been smooth sailing for the last month! He is such a good baby. We are so grateful that we have the tools at our disposal that make him a happier baby :)
Luke is obsessed with music. If he is having a rough moment, he calms down as soon as I turn on music. His current favs are Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, and anything instrumental. He also loves the music maker in his crib. It is just like the one X had but a little more updated.
He is happy! He is cooing and talking and smiling and even starting to giggle! While he is still a bit more spoiled than X was (wants to be held a lot!) he has gotten to the point where he will let us put him under his play mat (talks to the hanging animals and reaches for them), in his vibrating chair, or even his swing. He definitely doesn't favor the swing while awake like X did but he sleeps in it beautifully! He takes his best naps in that swing :) Because he hasn't been put down as much as X was, he is further behind on things like tummy time and rolling. By now X could roll to his side and Luke is no where near that. It's funny how different two babies with the same parents/surroundings/environment can be!
This month, his sleeping patterns became MUCH more manageable! He typically goes down around between 8 and 10 PM and wakes around 2 AM to eat. Then he sleeps until 5 AM when daddy feeds him and then sleeps again until it is time to leave for school. Dustin and I started sharing the night shift once I went back to work. It has made (my) life so much easier! I catch the middle of the night shift and he lets me sleep during the 5AM feeding. There have been a few nights that he has slept for more extended hours (10-5) ...but that isn't the norm yet :)
As far as his stats go, he is weighing in at 17ish lbs and is 24ish inches tall.
Even though he is a big baby, he doesn't particularly eat a lot. At this time X was already upped to 6 oz and we just this week changed Luke's feedings to 5 oz. He had been eating 4 oz. since he was 3 or 4 weeks old! Every once and a while he will need 6 but 4-5 usually do the trick.
Lastly, lately he has just blossomed. He is much more of a social/emotional baby than X was. He has a personality and is definitely a mama's boy. He already prefers me to Dustin...and Dustin to Xavier (Xavier is a little frightening). He is not as into Midnight as X was at this age but he LOVES watching cartoons with X. He will smile and giggle at the colorful screen and seems to just sway along to the cheerful songs. We are sure that he will never have a passion for the same shows X did when he was little (Mickey Mouse Club house, Octonauts, etc.) because Xavier chooses the shows now and chooses "big boy" programs.
We have been thankful for this little nugget before he was even in our arms, but this last month has been especially blissful. I have found myself telling Dustin several times this month just how happy I am. Things have fallen into place and this baby boy of ours has completed our little family :)
And just to compare:
Growing so fast & cuter by the day.
ReplyDeleteHappy for your gorgeous family.
