Dustin took him to the first appointment where they came up with a plan. The tooth was not able to be fixed by a filling and the new dentist was appalled that our old dentist was going to fill it without the proper xrays. Anyway, the tooth needed a root canal or to be pulled. We opted for pulled as it is a baby tooth and there was a chance the root canal wouldn't even be successful.
The following day, Dustin took him back and they failed again. The nitrous wasn't enough to calm him and they had to reschedule for a day that she could give him more meds to knock him out essentially.
I returned with him a few days later. It was awful. I could hear him screaming for a solid 15 minutes. They were able to pull the tooth but not place the spacer which is ok. Over all, the whole process cost us tons of money and poor X has been scarred! Moving forward with dental work, he will have to be sedated with general anesthesia :(

Afterward...
To calm him down, Dustin suggested I bring him to his office. He was still pretty loopy from his meds so it took a while from him to truly be present. We spent sometime coloring and playing. Then daddy took us to lunch and to get a toy :)
I even stopped for an ice cream on the way home!
That evening we spent cuddling and recuperating.
Where is bothersome tooth was |
We made the best of a bad situation and got excited for the very first visit from the tooth fairy! X asked daddy to write her a letter asking if we could keep this tooth since it was his first and the root looked cool!
Of course he signed his name! |
And what do you know, the tooth fairy came! And played with Cookie and Twinkle!
The tooth fairy even left behind some money under Xavier's pillow!
The dentist thinks that he will need more work done in the near future. Please pray for our little bean pod! We want him happy, healthy and pain free!
