Sleeping at our house has been a circus for the last 4 months. We had it down to a science up until Christmas. Luke went down easily at 7:15 and slept in his crib all night. We spent some quality time with Xavier until 8PM playing games or reading books and then he went down easily and slept in his bed through the night.
Then we traveled for a week at Christmas. And our beautiful machine broke down.
In January, after sleeping in a bed with me all week at my parent's house, Luke decided he WOULD NOT go down in his crib easily. We tried cry it out for all of 5 minutes and quickly decided he was too old for that method. So, we would get him down painfully and then like clock work, before 2 AM, he was screaming again and ended up in bed with me while Dust slept on the couch (or the floor depending on how his back was feeling).
This only got worse after our Spring Break trip and at this point Luke would scream until someone got him out of his crib. Putting him down in his room was no longer an option and one of us had to lay down with him in our room until he fell asleep. Our beautiful evenings turned into chaos. Xavier got out of wack too and would end up on our floor half the time.
After a couple months of this, we converted the crib to a toddler bed thinking maybe he would get excited about it and want to sleep in it. Wrong.
So, after we got back from Jacksonville, Dustin and I started mattress and bedding shopping. He pulled out the conversion kit to turn Luke's bed into a full and we spent an afternoon transforming Luke's nursery into a big boy room.
So now, at least if Luke won't sleep in his own bed, Dustin won't be on the floor! LOL
I chose bedding that matched his current colors and theme. I think it looks adorable in a big boy kind of way :) And, it didn't break the bank either so when he is old enough to choose what he would like his room to look like, I won't feel like this was a total waste!
Dustin was in charge of the mattress and did a great job! The finished product is a beautiful little room and we are excited about having an extra bed in the house :)
