We were planning on leaving Saturday afternoon but when we heard about the blizzard coming Friday night, Dustin decided it made more sense to beat the storm. We ran some errands on Friday and took Beanie to Deneen's so that she could spend a few more hours with him.
Friday evening, we packed up and managed to fit all of our wonderful gifts into our tiny Civic. We said goodbye to my sisters and their babies as well as my parents. :( We are so thankful that my parents let us stay with them for a week and we love them very much!
Next, we went to Bryan's to pick up Midnight, say goodbye, and admire the hope chest one last time before it is delivered to us :) Again, we are so thankful for Dustin's parents and love them very much, too!
Then it was off to Florida we went. Dust drove through snow and rain until Kentucky. At times, we were going pretty slow but when we got through Kentucky, we were good! We picked up the speed and managed to Georgia. After a wild goose chase for a hotel, we finally ended up at a run down, freezing cold motel. Apparently all of the hotels for miles were booked. At 3am, we finally caught some Zs.
We woke up at 8am, and off we were again.
Atlanta! Half-way home! |
We drove all day and made it home at 6pm. We were exhausted to say the least. Thankfully we have a precious baby who was amazing the whole way home.
Tampa! |
While we miss our family already, we are happy to be back on schedule and back in our own beds!
