During the planning process (because there is NO such thing as an unplanned Disney trip), we decided (Ok, I decided) that we would wear matching shirts each day. In order to get Dustin on board I agreed to a Superhero theme for our Hollywood Studios day LOL! A friend of mine cut the vinyl, I purchased the shirts and ironed them on and VIOLA! My visions came to life :)
They turned out SO cute and we got so many compliments (and fast passes) out of them!
Oh, and you can't forget the obligatory Disney manicure for mama!
So, just like in years past, I wrapped up the last day of school with my 4th graders, cleared out my classroom and ran home to my babies. We met Dustin at his office and hit the road from there. (Well, that was the plan anyway but I forgot 431 things at home including the key for the dogsitter so...we got a later start than anticipated.)
And off we went!
He LOVES my obsessions with pictures. He totally married the right girl. |
I may have pestered him the whole drive... :)
We stayed at a new spot this year. We wanted something nice but not too pricey since we were staying so many nights. This resort fit the bill! It was only a 10 minute drive to the Magic Kingdom parking lot and less to all the other parks. They offered shuttles but you know Dustin....
We spent that first night snuggling and enjoying the anticipation of spending the next 4 days together :) Dustin works so much that this special time is rare!

Our Everything. |
We all got a good night sleep (LOL- NOT!) and got up bright and early the next morning for some Disney Magic! Day 1 meant a few things: Magic Kingdom, birthday themed shirts, and one more surprise for the babies.

What we wouldn't do for our babies! |
Don't let this fake smile fool you. He loves Disney! |
With very few hiccups, we were in the park and at the castle before they opened. This was new for us as in years past they have put on the show outside the entrance gates.
Here we go! |
Opening show! |
He's ready! |
The babies LOVED it!
Next up, that surprise I mentioned earlier. You see, the night before Dustin and I got a surprise! My parents flew into Orlando and planned to stay throughout our trip to experience Disney with the babies! They didn't tell us until they landed. We were so excited for the little guys to have grandparents to make memories with and let's face it-- Disney is more pleasant with a higher adult to kiddo ratio! :)
IT WAS PERFECT!
Our boys don't know how lucky they are to have so many grandparents that adore them!
After a beautiful reunion, it was right back to business! Next up, the Barnstormer. This is the only roller coaster X has ever ridden. It is pretty small but Luke wasn't tall enough. Interesting fact: X WAS tall enough on his second birthday.
So, Mimi and Papa ride this with us while Dust took Luke back to Dumbo :)
We rode this several times...
From there is was teacups...
And Buzz Lightyear...
And Astro Orbiter...
Where mom and I had to share a tiny little rocket ship with our not-so-tiny hineys!
And then Pooh!
After Pooh we had a snack and hopped on the Carousel :)
And then, Tam's favorite, Small World!
After that, we headed back over to the Monster's Inc. show where Dustin was super excited for more pics!!!
:)
The show was funny, but not nearly as funny as last time. Remember?! Dustin was chosen as a character and was hilarious?! Good times.
Nap time!
While Lukey poo napped, my mom and I hung out with him in the pit stop while the boys raced some cars!
By now we needed some AC and sugar. We headed over to the Big Top where a Disney employee noticed Xavier's bday shirt and gave him a blue mickey treat for free :) Daddy bought him the toy and between the two, he was easily occupied for the next 5 minutes LOL
We spent the next couple hours bouncing from fast pass to fastpass and got SO much "accomplished." I am telling you, if you are planning a Disney vacation, talk to Dustin. He is the fast pass king.
My big boy. Where has the time gone? |
Mimi and Papa watched Lukey so the three of us could have a special ride :) |
We got stuck... LOL! |
On to the train ride...
Oh, this gorgeous baby. |
Good ol' dad :) |
Because he can't just smile like a normal human. |
We took the train around to the front of the park where our dinner reservation was at Tony's. Tony's is based off of the Lady and the Tramp and we've been here and blogged about it before :) We were a bit early for our reservation so we did some shopping on Main Street while we waited.
As we waited to be seated, we caught the princess parade :)
After being seated, we still had a view :)
We had a lovely Italian dinner and sat a bit longer than necessary soaking up the AC and conversation :) Almost everyone ordered dessert and a good time was had by all!
They're the cutest! |
While waiting for our food, the manager approached us with this voucher for a fastpass on any ride due to our wait. We didn't notice the wait was long but gladly accepted! :)
The good news is, we continued to have an amazing evening! Some of the highlights included: Xavier and Dustin going on Splash Mountain for the first time, my parents spending some QT with Luke at the Country Bears, some AMAZING cotton candy and a million more rides.
The bad news, my phone died and I was unable to document these amazing moments. The last pic I caught of the day was directly after exiting the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, waiting through a torrential downpour and then seeing a rainbow over the castle :)
We had a wonderful first day at the happiest place on earth. We grabbed a snack on the way back to the resort and the babies passed out!
