Xavier's Date with DaddY!

A couple weeks ago, I had to drop the boys off at school in the morning. This is a VERY rare occasion in our househols. Goodbyes seem to be more difficult with me than with Dust. Anyway, when I kissed Luke goodbye and sat him at the breakfast table to play with some toys, he lost it! He started crying and hollering and was not happy. I left quickly thinking I should just "pull the bandaid" and then I crouched down behind the door and looked through the window to make sure he was able to pull himself together. As I watched, I saw Xavier approach him, sit next to him, speak to him softly and sweetly and rub his back. He kept saying things like "it's ok Luke, I'll play with you" and "Look Luke, we can play farm together!" This angel baby of ours rubbed his little brothers back for several minutes and calmed him down and was so amazing with him that I literally could NOT have been more proud. I cried the whole way to work and called Dustin to tell him what I had seen. We both decided that because he is just SO amazing, that he deserved a little something special.

So, that evening, Dustin took him on a special dinner date, just the two of them. He picked the location (his favorite restaurant, Red Elephant) and they ate and drew pictures together and chatted and played in the arcade. They had such a great time together and Xavier knew he was being rewarded for being AWESOME!

I am so proud of our little guy. I just can't wait to see all the amazing things that he accomplishes in this life!

  1. Xavier is so special. We`re so happy he loves his little brother so much. This brought tears to my eyes knowing he is there for Lukey.
