Daddy's Powerlifting Meet: #3

Three weeks ago, our little family traveled back to Tampa so that Dust could participate in another lifting competition. Even though it was our first official weekend in Tallahassee, we were all a little excited to visit for the weekend.

This was the weekend between parents- mine had just left, and Dust's hadn't yet arrived. We woke up  early Saturday, packed up and headed toward the "pet spa" to drop off Midnight. After that, we hit the road and started the 4.5 hour trip back to where we'd just come from :)

The ride there was decent. Xavier slept part of the way and screamed part of the way. Once we made it to Tampa, he was ready to run around!

We ended up arriving around noon and our first stop was the venue at which the competition was taking place. Here, Dustin had to weigh in. He had been dieting for nearly 2 months (even during the holidays!) and "cutting" weight for about a week. Before he started his cut, he weighed 195. Six days later at the weigh in, he weighed 180.6! It was a close call as the max for his weight class was 181.0.

Running of some energy before lunch!

After he weighed in, he was hungry so we headed to our favorite spot...you guessed it...The Cheesecake Factory. After dining, we wondered around the mall and shopped at some of our favorites that Tallahassee doesn't have.  I miss that mall already :(

Say "Cheeeese" for Cheesecake Factory!

Disney is Beanie's favorite toy store so we had to get him something ;)

After spending a wonderful afternoon together, we headed to our hotel where we were upgraded to a King suite because our baby is that stinking cute! No lie-- she literally fell in love with Xavier so she upgraded us!

I would write about how we spent the rest of the evening exploring our old stomping grounds and having adventures but we didn't. Instead we relaxed in the hotel the whole evening and had a great time lounging in bed and enjoying beanie.

The next morning, we headed to the gym. It was the best venue yet because it was loud (to stifle my hollerin' little guy), huge (for him to run like crazy), and had a playground in the back! We played all morning while Dust warmed up. He came to check on us periodically and we all enjoyed the morning.

Big like daddy!

Crazy Bean Playing on the floor!

Once the competition started, Dust was the second to last to lift. First up, squats. His first attempt was 390 lbs and was good. His second was 425 and was also good. This was a 5lb meet personal record! His last attempt was 435 and he narrowly missed it.

SQUAT!

So very proud of his hard work

Proud of my daddy!

After squats, Beanie fell asleep and slept through the entire bench pressing session :( This was Dustin's most difficult event which was odd because while he was training, it went the best. He got 295lbs with his first attempt and then failed with 325 twice.

By the time it was his turn to deadlift, he had pulled himself together and got 475lbs, 505lbs, and an astonishing 515lbs.

Strong

His total from this meet was 1235. Even with missing a few lifts, he placed third!

Victory lap!

We are so proud of him! One of xavier's favorite things to do is watch videos of Dustin lifting. It's too cute! He points and says "dada" over and over and then makes me replay it :)

We love you Dust!
