Last week, I came across this article in the Huffington Post:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/allison-tate/mom-pictures-with-kids_b_1926073.html
For those of you not interested in reading it, I'll give you the short of it. Too often, new mommies run from cameras and refuse to be in the picture. Exhaustion and baby weight has taken over their bodies and they are terrified of the camera. From day one, Dustin tried to get me to pose and would say "You look fine...you JUST had a baby" or "You are going to wish you had pictures of the two of you while he is still little" but I, like other moms, refused.
After reading this article, I began to cry. Dustin, and the author of this article are right. When Xavier is 20 years old and looks back at this, he is not going to care that I am not wearing makeup. He is not going to care that I didn't weigh 120 pounds. What he WILL care about is that I cuddled him whenever I got the chance, that we napped together, that we played together, and that I loved him more than anything in the world.
So, I was inspired to make a post sharing the not so glamorous side of being a mama. This not so glamorous side, however, is the most beautiful side. I love my baby and he loves me and I will TRY to be thankful for the pictures that my hubby snuck :)
