Back to Indiana

After being home for nearly two weeks, and slow improvement in my dad's condition, we were finally told that he would soon be taken off the rotoprone bed and slowly weened from the vent. This whole process took a few days but by January 23, he was off the vent, slowly taken off the paralytics and out of the coma. As soon as he was awake, I booked another round trip flight home to see him. I was home for four days and in that time, he was VERY loopy and not himself until the last day. He slowly returned to his old self cognitively but was no where near the physical strength that he had been. The month in a coma had taken its toll on him and he couldn't move most of his muscles. He couldn't walk, feed himself...it was tough! He is slowly rehabbing and recovering. He was moved out of ICU the day I left and onto the rehab floor. I am writing this post on February 6th and at this time he has been on the rehab floor for almost 2 weeks. This post is scheduled to post on March 4th and I pray that all continues in the right direction and by the time this is posted he is home. <3

Again, I am not posting many pictures in the spirit of keeping my family's privacy but there were definitely more bright moments in this trip than the last :)

Snuggling in mama's robe with daddy

Oh, this SMILE!

While I was definitely not ready to leave my dad, it was a much easier departure than the last time. I am so proud of my dad and how hard he fought to hang on. The nurses and doctors had no problem telling us this time around that he is a miracle. He shouldn't be here. But we are so thankful that he is.

Sending pictures of ourselves to each other is our favorites :)

Reunited and it feels so good :)

We love you Papa! Keep fighting for recovery. Please keep praying friends!
