I've mentioned in previous posts about Xavier's AR (Accelerated Reader) program. This is a program that our students participate in at school to ensure that they are reading and comprehending books outside of the curriculum. Xavier was asked to do it as a kindergartner but all first through fifth grade students must participate. Each child takes a reading test on the computer, a point goal is set for them and then they work to earn points toward their goal. Xavier set a personal goal to get 100 points this school year and He has more than surpassed that goal already. As of now (February 7th) he has 130 points with 4 months to go. We are so proud of him and have loved celebrating his milestones with trips, treats and fun: special toys, ice cream trips, Great Wolf Lodge, play dates with friends and more!
The big reward for 100 points warranted a trip to Orlando. We spent the weekend visiting some fun spots like Crayola Experience and Cheesecake Factory and wrapped it up with a trip to Legoland. We also stayed at the coolest resort ever complete with its own water park. We had the best time celebrating our reading baby!
